1993 Dragon 29
Dragons were designed in 1929 by Johan Anker in Norway. Wildly popular in Europe, they became an Olympic Class from 1948 – 1972. They are currently the largest one-design fleet in the world. Vancouver only has a dozen or so Dragons.
This is one of the newest Dragons in BC – a 1993 model built in Hong Kong by renowned builder Lowell Chang. Named “Bamboo Man”, she was an award-winning boat in Hong Kong and is mentioned in the 75th Anniversary Dragon hard back book.
In 2003 she was shipped to Vancouver, dry-stored, sailed and raced locally.
