“Based on encouragement by Lawrence Fronczek, owner of Specialty Yachts, Vancouver BC, I ventured from Boise, Idaho to the Marlow Hunter plant in Alachua Florida this week to see our new Marlow Hunter 40, SAGE, being built. The visit was far more enriching than I could have possibly imagined…. It was obvious to me that the folks working on SAGE were proud of what they were doing. I have spent my career in the development and construction business and have an endearing respect for those in the skilled trades; those who are committed to practicing their craft because it is their love, not an obligation.
These people exist in the Marlow Hunter plant…Not surprisingly now, but the root of this odyssey during my ‘ideal boat pursuit’, was meeting Lawrence in the salon of a Marlow Hunter 31 during a boat show in Seattle. He countered my ‘production boat cost cutting’ objections with solid facts and I became very interested. The discussion was a reflection of his grounding in the transformation taking place under the Marlow flag. It led my wife and me to Vancouver, BC, to order a new boat, and eventually for me to see SAGE being built, where my confidence in her became resolute.”
